Kia Ora! My name is Martina, welcome to Joyful SEO! We are a New Zealand-based agency focusing on Search Engine Optimization.
After 3.5 years of freelancing for Digital Marketing Agencies based in Australia, New Zealand, and the US — and upon becoming a business mentor for local businesses in Christchurch — I realized SEO is still a bit of an undercover tool for business growth.
It seemed that small business owners knew what SEO is but had absolutely no clue of where to get started. What surprised me the most was how even established marketers were a bit lost when it came to applying the best SEO practices for web presence growth. And fair enough! A Web Developer or Social Media Expert is not the same as an SEO Specialist 🙂
Here’s the thing: We needed to go back to basics. SEO can indeed be complex, but that shouldn’t affect YOU. It can be dialed up or down depending on your specific goals and challenges.

Finally, we work with digital marketing agencies looking to outsource their clients’ SEO. From site audits to SEO strategy, content creation, and editing.
About Me
I’m Martina — call me Martu! I’m an SEO Specialist and AWAI Certified Copywriter based in Christchurch, New Zealand. I’m also a travel writer, blogger, and volunteer for the New Zealand Business Mentors program.
When I started my blog, it took me years to grasp what SEO was. I always say this, but I would literally cry on my laptop because I didn’t know why, after SO much work, my blog was getting 49 views per month.
After leaving my job to start freelancing as a web writer, I slowly began to learn the principles of how Search Engines work and figured that was the real deal. I took the best courses, practiced on my website, became a copywriter, and noticed how things shifted. I then started doing site audits for new customers, became an editor, and grew my blog to 1.2 million impressions in 90 days.
